The Look: Well Dressed Boys

Most of our posts here on TheRayandTheRo are usually just women’s fashion content and so today I decided to change sides.

To me, there is nothing than a well dressed guy, and whether he wants to go from clean prep to rough around the edges, here are some of my favorite looks and designers who know a thing or two about looking good… realll good.

The Look: Miranda Kerr Shows Us How To Wear Leather Pants

Miranda Kerr has been my style crush for a while now. She really knows how to put an outfit together and makes it look so effortless. I love this whole minimal look from head to toe, and lets not even start with how incredible her legs look in those leather pants! You know what this means…. I have to go to the gym now, thanks a lot Miranda!

Miranda’s look inspired a version on how I would create the look.. check it out below!

1. Oliver Goldsmith Orbison Sunglasses
Go for a large cat eye shape for a dramatic effect!
2. Rag & Bone The Sung Shirt
For those who have shorter legs or want to hide your thighs, instead of tucking the white blouse, let the blouse hang loose to make your legs look even longer!
3. Bumble & Bumble Styling Gel
For a slick hair back look that would add a runway chic feel
4. Joesph Leather Leggings
To get the look for less, Guess has AMAZING Leather Pants/Leggings for $138!
5. Aldo Corelli Pumps
A good black pump, try a little platform in the front

The Look: Minimal Edge

One of my favorite looks is the minimal edgy style. When you execute this style, you can’t help but think of Helmut Lang, Alexander Wang, Rick Owens and even Zara. When pulling off this look, every piece you get is worth the investment since each piece is highly versatile and can play a chameleon to different kinds of looks.

Sometimes clean, sleek simplicity is all you need.

1. Vanessa Bruno Boatneck Pullover
2. 3.1 Phillip Lim Silk Printed Trousers
3. Helmut Lang Wax Leather Jacket
4. Alexander Wang Luca Ankle Boot
5. Givenchy Antigona Duffle

The Wishlist: January LUST List

I don’t think I’ll ever stop lusting… these wishlists are becoming a little bit of a tradition here on The Ray and The Ro.

Lately, I’ve been feeling more of a “jeans and a t-shirt” kind of girl. (I think it’s because LA is so cold!) But when I mean “jeans & a t-shirt”, I obviously mean an Isabel Marant sweater with some Current/Elliot Jeans.

1. Chanel Allure Eau Du Perfume
2. Current/Elliot Rolled Skinny Blue Chip Jeans
3. Isabel Marant Eva open knit linen Sweater
4. 3.1 Phillip Lim Colorblock Small Pashli Zip Clutch
5. Coach x Tony Duquette Spike Necklace
6. YSL Yves Saint Lauren Ycons enameled gold plated cuff
7. Penelope and Coco Quincy Shoes

Oh Proenza, you really do not do any wrong in our book. From your attention to detail to your custom patterns, you can’t help but fall in love with these guys. From the PS1 to the unbelievable A-line dresses to the geometric shaped shoes, I always love to know what the design duo has in store for the future.

The Obsession: Bernadette Pascua- Home & Illustrations

When I stumbled upon Bernadette’s blog this morning, I found myself obsessing over her beautiful illustrations and use of color. Check out a few of her illustrations below, and be sure to follow her blog.

The Look: Posh Punk

Dressing, with attitude. In honor of recent literary heroine and on-screen star Lisbeth Salander (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), I wanted to put together a punk-inspired, rebellious and confident look for the spring season. While some girls chose to dress up as their favorite Sex and The City characters, I got swept up in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo frenzy and admittedly rocked motorcycle boots & a hoodie to the cinema to pay homage to my favorite star of the moment. I’ve always been a sucker for uber-strong women on screen- Kill Bill’s Beatrix Kiddo, Hillary Swank in Million Dollar Baby, and now Lisbeth Salander. Fashion’s always got time for a little punk-inspiration (F/W Balmain, Balenciaga, Gaultier, Burberry). And while the Sass & Bide top doesn’t scream “punk”, it still says I’m dressing with an attitude & I’m unexpectedly fierce.

Here are some punk inspired staples:

1. A good hoodie.  H&M Hoodie X Girl with The Dragon Tattoo (worn best under a leather jacket)

2. Motorcycle Boots. Maison Margiela Boots, Barney’s

3. Striped Pants, Tulle Paired with a Vintage Tee or Lace of some sort. Above: Striped Denim, $40 Grindstore.com

4. Unexpected top.  Sass & Bide Silence is Golden Tee, $285 Net-a-Porter

5. Studs, Spikes & Leather. NastyGal.com Cross Necklace, Low Luv Cage Ring, OpeningCeremony.us. Wendy Nichol Ring, Lagarconne. Studded Gloves, ASOS.

6. Rugged Bag. Preferably worn with Shoulder strap. Balenciaga City Tote, myteresa.com

7. Black Eyes, Bold Lips & “I dont care” Hair. Oribe Texturizing Spray (one of my favs). Black Eye Crayon, ASOS. Legalize LA LipGloss, American Apparel
